UP Capped Off 2011 with Strong Coal Train Volume

Last month, Union Pacific Railroad loaded 1,085 coal trains in the Southern Powder River Basin (SPRB) compared with 984 trains in December 2010. The Class I met 100.4 percent of National Coal Transportation Association (NCTA) demand, UP officials said in a weekly coal loading performance report.

For the full year, SPRB loadings totaled 12,254 trains, exceeding 2010 loadings by 4.5 percent. Read More Insights.
